Worcester, Mass
Situated in New England with a population of approximately 169,000 and just 45 miles from the historic town of Boston, Worcester is both a commercial and industrial centre.
The city is endowed with five museums and art collections in addition to a world class concert hall. Worcester is also known as the "City of Seven Hills" surrounded as it is by seven hills and lovely countryside. The best time for New England is, of course, "The Fall" to be amazed by the multi-coloured autumn leaves everywhere.
Formal twinning between the two Worcester's commenced in 1999, although many informal links and friendships have blossomed over many years.

As long ago as 1945 a silver chalice dating from 1571 was presented to All Saints Church, Worcester, Mass. by Worcester, England as an expression of gratitude for wartime assistance.
Regular exchange visits take place between various organisations of the two cities and many friendships have developed through these exchanges.
However, the links between the two Worcesters are not as well developed as those with our other twinned towns and we would welcome suggestions from both sides of the Atlantic on how friendship links could be improved. We would particularly like to hear the views of younger persons of both cities.
